The football or soccer team, FC Barcelona, is a well established contender in the world soccer leagues and has made its mark known upon the sports world. Fútbol Club Barcelona has won 19 titles and 39 cups as well as 13 major European trophies for the sport.
Culture
Barcelona is a center of culture and also home to a number of museums and is known for its splendid gothic and industrial architecture. Culturally, the city has been a center in the fashion industries as well as more traditional European arts.
The city is also home to an Olympic class stadium, art museums, ancient architecture and the legacy of a city founded as a port about 2000 years ago. Street festivals, the Gothic Quarter and the famous architecture of the Sagrada Familia are other attractions. August is reportedly a good time to visit, when the local populace is on vacation, and the city lifestyle slows down a bit.
